Essential Oils

Essential Oils are very concentrated oils that are distilled from the leaves, flowers, seeds or some element of the plant, containing the very essence or ‘essential part’ of the plant. Since they are so concentrated, they are used sparingly and usually are not to be in direct contact with skin, but blended with a ‘carrier oil.’ Carrier oils such as olive, coconut, grapeseed, avocado, jojoba, argan and almond oils dilute the essential oils and ‘carry’ them into the skin, and unlike essential oils, they do not evaporate, thus extending the shelf life of the essential oils. Carrier oils have their own medicinal properties (anti-inflammatory, anti-acne, in their own right.

It is important to note that since our products are organic, there are no additives or preservatives, and so it is helpful to store them in cool dark places to lengthen their shelf life.  Products will need to be stirred or shaken at times since the oils will separate, especially in warmer climates.  Naturally, oils are flammable, so be careful to keep your products away from any fire hazards.
